06/03/2019 4:59 am Narcotics: P.O. Geovanny Buitron initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at 27th Street and arrested the passenger, Billy Gannon, age 33 of Modesto, IL, after crack cocaine was discovered inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seatbelt.

06/06/2019 Forgery: On 5-15-19, Fair Lawn Police responded to CVS, 24-12 Fair Lawn Avenue, after being contacted by the pharmacist about fraudulent prescriptions that had been previously filled. Det. Brian Rypkema took over the investigation and arrested Danielle Dowling, age 37 of Fair Lawn, after she turned herself in. She was released after being charged with receiving stolen property, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, uttering forged documents & insurance fraud.

06/06/2019 11:15 pm Shoplifting: P.O. Mark Roskowsky responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested Douglas Field, age 57, after he was detained by store loss prevention with $59.09 in unpaid items in a backpack. He was released after being charged with shoplifting.

06/08/2019 11:51 am Shoplifting: P.O. Luis Vasquez, P.O. Anthony Burgos, P.O. Timothy Ammann, P.O. Miguel Cruz & Sgt. Sean Macys responded to CVS, 18-35 River Road, on a report of a shoplifting in progress involving multiple people and arrested the following after finding unpaid items, totaling $320.27, in large bags they were carrying: Terry Baldwin, age 51 of Rahway Evette Simpson, age 50 of Irvington Jerome Eley, age 49 of Irvington Felyncia McCrae, age 47 of Newark.

All were charged with shoplifting. In addition, Eley was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance after heroin was found on his person and McCrae was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and false information to a law enforcement officer after crack pipes were discovered and she gave multiple fake names during questioning. All were released after being charged.

06/09/2019 10:32 am Shoplifting: P.O. Miguel Cruz responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested Joseph Keating Jr, age 62 of Fair Lawn, after he was detained by store loss prevention attempting to take $175.37 in unpaid items by concealing the items in a shopping cart under plastic bags. He was released after being charged with shoplifting.

06/09/2019 1:28 pm Shoplifting: P.O. Miguel Cruz responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested Michael Rios, age 44 of Hawthorne, after he was detained by store loss prevention attempting to take $816.59 in unpaid items by placing the items in plastic bags, then filling a shopping cart. He was released after being charged with shoplifting.

06/12/19 06/10/2019 4:25 pm Shoplifting: P.O. Robert Manning responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested Raul Banks, age 37 of Paterson, after he was detained by store loss prevention attempting to take $21.64 in unpaid items in a backpack. Banks, who had arrest warrants out of Hawthorne ($5,000), Clifton ($1,500) and Glen Rock ($702), was charged with shoplifting, then handed over to Hawthorne Police.

06/11/2019 2:01 am Wanted Person: P.O. Justin DiGuglielmo initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Lyncrest Avenue and arrested the operator, Quarice Clark, age 28 of Paterson, after arrest warrants were located out of Fair Lawn ($589) and Paterson ($300). He was sent to Bergen County Jail.

06/11/2019 10:12 pm Forgery: P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Cyril Avenue and arrested the operator, Randolfo Castaneda, age 59 of Providence, RI, after the registration and insurance cards presented were found to be fraudulent. License plates, vehicle titles and a log book of vehicle transactions were discovered inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with uttering forged documents, exhibiting a false insurance card, tampering with public records, ficticious license plates, failure to maintain a single lane, no liability insurance and 2 counts of failure to exhibit government documents.

06/12/2019 12:27 am Driving While Intoxicated: P.O. Geovanny Buitron initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Plaza Road and arrested the operator, Katrina Jackson, age 50 of Totowa, after she failed a roadside sobriety test. She was released to a responsible adult after being charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a single lane, failure to signall, failure to keep right, impeding traffic, open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to breath testing.

Chief Glen Cauwels stated all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
