During the period between May 17 to May 23, 2021, members of the GRPD handled 345 calls for service, the highlights of which included:

05-17-2021 - 3:17 PM – The director of security for the Glen Rock Public Schools reported graffiti in the form of a swastika which was discovered in a boy’s bathroom at the Glen Rock Middle School. School officials were unable to provide a time frame in which this may have occurred. There are no known witnesses nor was any other evidence recovered at the scene. This matter has been classified as a bias incident and was reviewed by the Detective Bureau.

05-21-2021 - Patrols were dispatched to five homes on Chadwick Place and Andover Terrace to investigate reports of multiple vehicles entered overnight. Investigation found that a total of six unlocked vehicles had been entered by unknown actor(s).  Among the items stolen were wallets, cash, credit cards and personal ID. Detectives are currently investigating.

Motorists are reminded that it is never safe to leave your vehicle unlocked and unattended, even in your driveway at night.  Never leave valuables, keys, or key fobs in your vehicles.  Communities throughout North Jersey, including Glen Rock, have seen a steady increase in these types of incidents.  Thieves are specifically targeting unlocked vehicles.   

05-19-2021 - 3:04 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported that an unknown individual attempted to apply for unemployment benefits using his identity.  The Department of Labor was successfully able to block the attempt, and no benefits were received. The detective bureau continues to receive ongoing complaints of this nature and is working with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice which is the lead investigating agency on fraudulent unemployment claims being filed throughout the state.
