During the period between August 31 to September 6, 2020 members of the GRPD handled 298 calls for service, the highlights of which included:

08-31-2020 - 6:53 PM – Patrols were dispatched to a nail salon in the Rock Road Central Business District to check on the welfare of a woman who had locked herself in the store’s bathroom and appeared confused.  According to employees, the woman who was not a customer, entered the store and asked to use the bathroom. The woman remained in the bathroom for nearly an hour. As the store was closing, employees became further concerned.

Responding officers found that the woman was not in medical distress and escorted her out of the store so that employees could close for the night. During field contact officers learned that the subject, a 43-year-old Hawthorne woman, had an active arrest warrant issued by the Hawthorne Municipal Court for failing to answer to criminal charges. The woman indicated she was not able to post the $1,500 bail and was placed under arrest. Subsequent to arrest, she was found to be in possession of 1 bundle (approximately 10 glassine bags) of Heroin and two hypodermic syringes.

The woman was transported to Police HQ where she was processed and charged by Det. Lucas Doney with one count each of possession of narcotics and possession of hypodermic syringes. The Hawthorne Police Department was contacted, their court assigned a new court date, and the woman was released on her own recognizance. She was also released on her own recognizance on the Glen Rock charges pending an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack on September 18th. 

09-01-2020 - 3:59 PM – A Glen Rock man reported that a fraudulent unemployment claim had been filed in his name. The detective bureau has received several complaints of this nature and is working with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice which is the lead investigating agency on fraudulent unemployment claims being filed throughout the state. 

09-02-2020 - 5:39 PM – Patrols were dispatched to the Exxon Station at Maple and Highwood Avenues on a dispute in progress.  Upon arrival officers found that a 52-year-old Paramus woman became irate when she was told that the type of U-Haul-Truck she wished to rent was not available. At the request of the manager the woman was escorted from the premises without incident. 

09-06-2020 - 9:46 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported that a fraudulent unemployment claim had been filed in her name in Pennsylvania. She was able to provide information on the person who filed the claim and has notified unemployment officials in Pennsylvania. The matter has been forwarded to the detective bureau for review.
