On 4/4/19 Ptl. Valerie Smith arrested Robert Davidson Jr., 30, of Warminster PA, for DWI after a motor vehicle stop on Galloping Hill Road.   Davidson was issued several motor vehicle summonses and later released with a court date to appear in the Kenilworth Municipal Court.

Crime: Criminal Tresspass / Resisting Arrest / Hindering Apprehension

On 4/10/19 Patrol units responded to the area of N. 15th Street on a report of a suspicious person called in by a resident.  Further details provided by the resident were that an individual rang their doorbell and was looking into the kitchen window.  While responding to the area, Ptl. Travis Dilts located the suspect fleeing on foot and gave chase.  After a brief foot pursuit he caught up to and arrested David Castro, 26, of Linden NJ.  Castro was transported to police headquarters and charged with Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Hindering His Apprehension, and Criminal Mischief.  He was later released on a summons and provided with a first appearance court date of 4/24/19 in the Union County Superior Court.

Crime: Burglary

Officer: Ptl. Travis Dilts

On 4/12/19 Ptl. Travis Dilts and Ptl. Glen Sandull responded to the Go Fast Convenient store located at 541 Boulevard on an activated burglar alarm.  Upon their arrival, units reported a broken front window and cleared the store without encountering any suspects.  A review of the surveillance footage shows 2-3 unidentified suspects arriving in the area on foot.  One male climbed onto the roof and tampered with the exterior cameras to hinder their identities.  The interior video then shows one of the males wearing a hood smash the front glass door and proceed to ransack the register area before fleeing out the rear door.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700.  There are no identified suspects at this time.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

On 4/13/19 Ptl. Travis Dilts arrested Jeffrey Rodrigues, 38, of Kenilworth for DWI after a motor vehicle stop on N. 14th Street.  Rodrigues was transported to headquarters and later released after receiving several motor vehicle summonses.  He is scheduled to appear in the Kenilworth Municipal Court at a later date.

Crime: Theft

Officer: Ptl. Robert Rueger

On 4/14/19 Ptl. Robert Rueger responded to a residence on N. 17th Street after a resident reported items missing from the backyard. The timeframe for the theft was within 48 hours and a nearby neighbor described the actors as 2 white males in a maroon pickup truck.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700.

Crime: CDS Distribution

Officer: Ptl. Matthew Torre

On 4/26/19 Ptl. Matthew Torre arrested William Martenuk, 29, of Scotch Plains for narcotic distribution after a motor vehicle stop at 705 Boulevard.  A search of the vehicle during the stop revealed Martenuk was in possession of Cocaine, Heroin, Oxycodone, and Marijuana.  Martenuk was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with several criminal narcotic offenses and traffic offenses.  Martenuk was released with a first appearance date of 5/10/19 in the Union County Superior Court.

Crime: Warrant Arrest

Officer: Ptl. Ray Fuschino

On 4/30/19 Ptl. Ray Fuschino arrested Khalil Edwards, 25, of Cranford for an outstanding traffic warrant after a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle he was a passenger in.  A records check of Edwards by Ptl. Fuschino revealed the warrant out of Plainfield.  Edwards was transported to police headquarters where he was later released to officers from the Plainfield Police Department.

Crime: CDS Possession

Officer: Ptl. Travis Dilts

On 5/4/19 Ptl. Travis Dilts arrested Nuno Ferreira, 25, of Union for Possession of CDS/Heroin.  The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop for licensing and equipment violations on Washington Avenue.  While speaking with the driver, Ptl. Dilts developed probable cause to search the vehicle and during the search he discovered the heroin.  Ferreira was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.  He was later released with a court date of 5/17/19 in the Union County Superior Court.

Crime: Shoplifting

Officer: Ptl. Anthony Tancs

On 5/6/19 Ptl. Anthony Tancs arrested Alfred Lovett, 48, of NY for Shoplifting.  The arrest was a result of a service call placed by management at the ACME Supermarket stating that a male shoplifted merchandise and fled from the store on foot.  While responding to the area of the ACME, Ptl. Tancs located Lovett hiding in bushes on S. 31st Street.  Ptl. Tancs took Lovett into custody and transported him to police headquarters.  He was charged with Shoplifting and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was later released with a scheduled court date of 5/15/19 in the Kenilworth Municipal Court.

 

Date & Time: 5/9/19

Crime: Motor Vehicle Burglary

On 5/9/19 multiple resident reported burglaries to their vehicle with missing property that occurred during the overnight hours.  Kenilworth Police Detectives are investigating the burglaries and are asking anyone with information to please contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700.
