Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On January 2, 2020 a business owner reported a burglary to one of his work vehicle trailers. The suspect(s) cut the locks to the trailer and stole construction tools valued at approximately $5,000.00.  The theft occurred while the vehicle was parked overnight in a storage lot. Detectives are investigating.

CDS Arrest

On January 7, 2020 Ptl Dilts arrested Ryan Callas of Metuchen and Joseph Kpryanou of Morganville for possession of suspected Heroin. The incident occurred at the Shell gas station located on Galloping Hill Rd. Both men were charged and released with a scheduled appearance in Union County Superior Court.

Driving While Intoxicated

 On January 10th 2020 Ptl Kaverick responded to a report of an erratic driver in the area of Boulevard and S. 22nd Street. Ptl Kaverick observed a black BMW in the area traveling at a high rate of speed and crossed over a double yellow line. At that point Ptl. Kaverick conducted a traffic stop and investigation.  The operator Samuel Cantarinhas of Union was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released with a scheduled appearance in Kenilworth Municipal Court.

CDS Distribution

On January 11, 2020 John Tempro of Clark was arrested for distribution of CDS after Kenilworth hotel employees reported suspicious activity. Officers from KPD conducted a two-day investigation and seized a large quantity of suspected marijuana, cocaine, THC vape cartridges and CDS packaging materials from Tempro’s room. Tempro was charged and has a scheduled appearance in Union County Superior Court.

Motor Vehicle Theft

On January 15, 2020 officers responded to a restaurant located at Boulevard & North 26th on a report of a motor vehicle theft. The victim reported that the suspects pulled into the restaurant parking lot in a white SUV. The passenger exited the vehicle and entered the victim’s running unoccupied vehicle and drove off with it. Both suspects were wearing ski masks.  Investigation is continuing.
