Theft – Princeton Street – Headquarters received a walk in report regarding a theft.  The victim stated that their bicycle, described as a Schwinn Mountain bike with black frame, green rims, green pedals, and black tires was taken from their residence. 

Fraud – Headquarter received a walk in report regarding fraud.  The victim stated that after selling and delivering an item on Ebay, they received a dispute notice regarding the sale, 28 days later.  The customer stated that the phone they purchased arrived with a cracked screen and Ebay approved the return and refunded their money.  Upon receiving the phone back from the buyer, the victim noticed that the serial number on the phone they received did not match the phone that was sent out by the victim.

9/21/19

Harassment – A report came in regarding harassing phone calls.  The victim stated that they had been receiving numerous phone calls from a blocked number in which a male voice was making disrespectful comments.

Property Damage – Kingsland Street – Officers responded to the area in regards to a tree limb that had fallen and struck utility wires.  The large limb was observed resting on the utility wires over the sidewalk.  The area was cordoned off and the Fire Department responded to the scene. Essex County DPW responded and removed the tree limb and cleaned up the area. Damage was observed to three (3) vehicles in the driveway.

9/23/19

Identity Theft – Headquarters received a walk in report regarding Identity Theft.  The victim stated that a Visa credit card was issued in their name and an attempt was made for a purchase at Wal-Mart for an item valued at $323.67 with shipping to Texas, but the order was canceled.  The victim did not authorize the card or the purchase.  Visa was contacted and the card has been cancelled. 

Noise Complaint – Centre St – A noise complaint resulted in the arrest of James Lios, 52, Nutley, for two (2) outstanding active warrants out of Fairlawn and Newark.  He was transported to Headquarters without incident, both jurisdictions were contacted and advised of his arrest.  Fairlawn and Newark PD’s released Mr. Lios on his own recognizance with new Court dates, to which he was advised. 

Fraud – Headquarters received a walk in report regarding fraud.  The victim stated that they noticed two (2) unauthorized charges to PayPal from their Chase checking account totaling approximately $300.00.

Motor Vehicle Stop – Centre Street – A motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of the driver, Darren Mercado, 19, of Belleville, who was transported to Headquarters without incident.  He was processed including photographs and fingerprints, charged with Possession of Marijuana, Distribution on or within 1,000 feet of a school, motor vehicle summonses include Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, advised of his Court date and released. 

Motor Vehicle Stop – Passaic Avenue – A vehicle stop was conducted that resulted in the arrest of Alex Gonzalez, 20, of Belleville.  He was transported to Headquarters without incident, printed, processed, charged with Possession of Marijuana, issued motor vehicle summonses for Speeding, Possession of CDs in a Motor Vehicle, advised of his Court date, and released from custody.

9/25/19

Fraud -  Headquarters received a walk in report regarding fraud.  The victim stated that they found two credit cards (US Bank Platinum and Capital One) had been opened using only their name and social security number.  Both agencies contacted the victim to obtain further information including date of birth, address, etc. to complete the opening of the accounts.  Both credit companies were advised that the victim never applied for a line of credit and they immediately shut down the accounts.
