Officers arrested Ibraheem Steen, 27, of East Orange, on an outstanding warrant out of the Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $1,292, police said. The arrest was pursuant to a pickup at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark. Steen was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters, processed and sent to the Union County Jail in lieu of bail, police said.
July 11 at 3:24 p.m.
A resident of Cumberland Street reported that an unknown person fraudulently wrote a check against their checking account, police said. The check, written in the amount of $3,000, was cashed, police said.
July 16 at 7:37 p.m.
A resident of the 400 block of Linden Avenue reported that his blue K2 mountain bicycle valued at $200 was stolen from the parking lot on the North Avenue side of the Westfield train station during between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., police said. The bicycle had been secured with a lock, which the thief cut off and left at the scene, police said.
July 17 at 9:22 a.m.
A resident of Doris Parkway reported a fraudulent charge to a department store line of credit, police said. The fraudulent charge was in the amount of over $1,400, police said.
July 17 at 8:26 a.m.
A resident of Hyslip Avenue reported being the victim of a debit card fraud, police said. The victim reports three unauthorized ATM withdrawals totaling over $500, police said. The withdrawals happened over the course of three days this month, police said.
July 18 at 10:43 p.m.
Officers arrested Christopher Colon, 18, of Elizabeth, at the Elizabeth Police Department on an outstanding Westfield Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $5,000, police said. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and held, pending bail, police said.
July 23 at 12:26 p.m.
Justin Batista, 28, of Phillipsburg, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of the West Deptford Municipal Court in the amount of $783, police said. He processed, then released with a new court date, police said.
