SEWELL, NJ -- Union Catholic swimming sensation Bridget Davis capped off her remarkable freshman season by smashing her own school record in the 500 freestyle when she placed 13th in 5:07.56 at Sunday's NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Gloucester County Tech.

Davis broke the record of 5:09.28 that she swam in Saturday's preliminary round.

This was the third time this season that Davis broke the school record in the 500. She broke it for the first time last month when she won the 500 at the Union County Championships at Rutgers in 5:10.41. Prior to this season, the school record in the 500 was 5:14.30, which was set in 1982 by Kim Hayes.

The season Davis had will go down as one of the best in school history.

In addition to her exploits in the 500, Davis also placed second at the county meet in the 200 free in 1:55.62, just off the school record of 1:55.57, and she split 24.63 on the anchor leg when she joined with Alexandra Moore (26.63), Molly Brennan (26.68), and Anna Gordon (26.56) to place seventh at the county meet in the 200 free relay in 1:44.50. That shattered the school record of 1:48.81 that the same foursome set in December.

Davis also helped the Vikings place a very strong seventh in the team standings at the county meet, and finish the season undefeated in co-ed dual meets to finish first in the Union County Conference.
