Third Congressional District Candidate Martin Weber has been a Republican for a majority of his life. The nature of today’s political climate has made him change his affiliation to being an Independent.

“We have to start thinking beyond the ‘R’ and the ‘D’,” says Weber. “There are very serious issues that are not being addressed because of the parties’ agendas…it’s not right.” Weber, running as an Independent for the Congressional seat, cites his participation in the WHYY/Burlington County League of Women Voters Forum as a prime example.

“It was an honor to participate in that forum, fielding questions, talking straight to the voters,” comments Weber. “Unfortunately, that was the only forum I was invited to participate in…all of the others that have happened and are going to happen are solely for Andy [Kim] and Dave [Richter]…promoting the two-party approach.”

The Barnegat business owner suggests this will only lead to bickering and finger-pointing, not the substance the voters would truly like to hear. “Take VA Healthcare, which what I have been running on for over two years now…in the forum, Andy and Dave talked about putting a bandaid on the current system, while I called for a completely different approach,” recalls Weber. “The people deserve to hear ALL sides of an issue to arrive at the best decision for them and their family”.

Weber pledges to work in a bipartisan manner if elected to the seat citing “this is for the people of this country…not the party line”.
