The Borough of South Plainfield seeks a certified, knowledgeable and organized candidate with experience and exemplary communication skills for a full-time position of Zoning Official.   The candidate will be responsible for managing the zoning and property maintenance department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analyzing, interpreting and implementing local zoning ordinances;  review of applications, including building blueprints, site plans and surveys, for development and/or construction prior to the issuance of construction permits to determine compliance with zoning regulations; consultation with professionals, property owners and contractors to achieve compliance of zoning regulations;  investigating property maintenance complaints and doing appropriate follow up; investigation and enforcement of any violation or alleged violation of local zoning ordinances and property maintenance issues;  preparation and filing of monthly reports of activities with the Mayor and Borough Council; preparation of reports on applications pending before the Planning Board;  issuance of zoning permits; attendance, if warranted, at Zoning and Planning Board meetings and necessary court hearings.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Any combination equivalent to a high school diploma. Three years of experience in the inspection and enforcement of zoning laws is and regulations is preferred.
