Planning is always important, but never more than in a global pandemic when we are all confronted with the possibility of our own mortality.  If you’ve never executed estate planning documents or if you haven’t updated your plan in the last three to five years, it’s time to talk with your estate planning professionals to make sure that your family is protected.

Our team is functioning in new ways to help our clients do the planning they need while simultaneously social distancing.  We are conducting meetings via Zoom and FaceTime and helping our clients to implement their estate planning goals remotely.

New Jersey is still requiring that a Last Will and Testament be signed in the physical presence of two witnesses, preferably with the addition of a Notary Public.  Although New Jersey has passed a bill allowing for virtual notarization, clients should be aware that the execution of a Will was specifically excluded from that legislation.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

In order to allow our clients to sign these important documents in a safe manner, we are holding Will signings in our parking lot (there’s a sentence we never thought we’d say!).  Clients arrive with their own pens and go down the line of documents assembled on a folding table, while our staff “witnesses” the execution from a safe distance.  Our clients then return home, knowing that their estate planning documents are in place and their families are protected in the unlikely event of the worst-case scenario.

Our New York clients are able to sign documents virtually thanks to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Orders Numbers 202.7 and 202.14.

Please call us if we can assist you or your family in any way during this trying time.  Our team remains committed to providing the same great service and high-touch relationships—all from a remote setting.  We hope that you and your families are safe and healthy.
