Highlights: Poster & Poetry Contest; Book Sale; Becky Gibby
Local author Becky Gibby will visit our young readers on Tuesday with her book and its main character. Madison Chatham Coalition is launching a poster and poetry contest on Thursday. This important initiative will highlight the dangers of underage vaping and marijuana use. And Friends of the Library will hold their annual holiday book sale on Saturday. Ⓒ ShopRite Nutrition: Easy Snow Day Snacks – 4 to 5 pm
Ages 5 to 8 Limit: 15 children
Monica Hansen, Registered Dietitian at ShopRite of Greater Morristown, will show you some easy-to-assemble snacks that would be great for a snow day home from school!

Ⓒ Guest Storytellers: Becky Gibby – 10:30 am

Author and Chatham resident Becky Gibby will read her book “I Walked My Dog Around the Pond”. Children will learn about the changing seasons in their hometown. They will also get to meet a special guest – the dog featured in the book!

Thursdays, November 8 & 29; December 6 & 13 (make-up for snowed-out 11/15)
Peggy Dressel, a graduate of Pratt Institute and an instructor at the Ridgewood Art Institute and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey, will offer a four-week beginner’s drawing class. Students will be required to bring a fine art pencil set or a few different soft pencils such as HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, and 8B; a white drawing paper pad 11” x 14” or larger; and erasers – kneaded or Staedtler Mars (plastic). The class is limited to 15 students. Registration required.
Ⓣ Poster and Poetry Contest
Launch Reception Thursday, December 6 – 6 to 7:30 pm
The Madison Chatham Coalition, in partnership with the library, will hold this contest of poetry and art illustrating the impact of underage use of marijuana and vaping. Entries will be accepted between December 13 and January 10. Public judging will take place between January 11 and 18. Winners in four age categories will receive prizes. Friends of the Library of The Chathams will hold their annual Holiday Book Sale for one day only. Browse the wonderful selection of holiday books, children’s hardcover picture books, cookbooks and gift books.

Ⓕ George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker – 2:30 pm
Experience the New York City Ballet’s stunning performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker on the big screen. Filmed at Lincoln Center, the troupe brings to life Tchaikovsky’s musical setting of this Christmas fantasy.
