Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce President's Report

Steven Gendel of Keller Williams give talk at Chamber's last Breakfast on the Road Credits: Jessica Marrone Parkes

The Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce has had a busy spring networking at different Chamber member locations.

Our Chamber has grown over the past year due to the interest in our monthly network resource breakfasts and our unique format of having our members holding these meetings at each other’s locations. This networking format gives the host member the opportunity to show off their location and let each attendee learn firsthand what it is that they do.

In April we were hosted by Shop Rite of Livingston and learned about proper nutrition from registered dietitian, Christine Patorniti. For those that are interested in maintaining better nutrition, Christine is available at Shop Rite for free consultations.

April was also the month that we held our annual Chamber Awards Dinner. What a great night 170 of us had honoring special Livingston volunteers and 2015 Livingston Business of the Year, Saint Barnabas Medical Center for their 150 year anniversary and 50 years in Livingston. Thank you Lou LaSalle and Margie Heller of Saint Barnabas for being part of the Chamber Board and a great partner of the Livingston Community.

In May, Helaine Wallach and Margo Silverstrom of Handcrafters showed us their store and their specialty gift items for babies, children, and adults that all can be personalized. Each attendee that morning got to choose a gift to take home. What a great way to remember Handcrafters when that special gift is needed. We had so many people networking that morning that the meeting had to be held at neighboring Livingston Bagel.

Also in May, due to some members stating that it is tough to get to morning networking meetings, we organized an evening networking event at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. They provided us with meatballs, pizza, and wings out on their patio bar until the lightning and thunderstorm pushed us inside. We had over 30 people crowding the bar and finding ways to keep business in Livingston and how to do business with each other.

Our June Network Resource Breakfast was held at Keller Williams Suburban Realty. They are located in Livingston Town Center and their office is on the second floor with a patio/balcony overlooking the intersection of Mt. Pleasant and Livingston Avenues. We did some eating and networking out there and then was provided with a presentation from owner Steven Gendel.

We will be kicking off the summer with a BBQ on July 14th from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM on the patio of Livingston Bagel. The event will be free to all Chamber members due to the generosity of sponsors        Saint Barnabas and Regal Bank. Guests are welcome for $15. You will not want to miss this BBQ as we are having 7 time Emmy Award Winner Hunter Hayes perform for us.

If you are not already a member and are interested in networking (and a free BBQ) with prominent Livingston business owners and decision makers, please contact our Executive Director, Beth Lippman at 973-992-4343 or check us out at www.livingstonchambernj.com.
