EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ—Did you know that June is Brain Health and Alzheimer’s Awareness Month? East Brunswick Department on Aging and the East Brunswick Public Library are teaming up to present the program “An Introduction To Brain Health and Alzheimer’s” on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:00 pm in the East Brunswick Senior Center (3 Jean Walling Civic Center).
The program is led by East Brunswick Department on Aging director Danielle Micale, MHA, LNHA, CTRS, CDP, CADDCT, CDCM. Topics covered including current brain health initiatives, defining dementia and Alzheimer’s disease with current statistical data, providing an overview of how a diagnosis is rendered, and discussing risk factors and warning signs.
Micale has previously served as a Training and Consultation Specialist with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care’s Research and Training Institute & the COPSA Institute for Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders, including a focus on older adults, long term care, mental health and Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Also, she is the past recipient of the Garden State Woman of Year Award for her commitment to community involvement as well as the Circle of Honor Advocacy Award from the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter. She also continues to serve as an Alzheimer’s Ambassador and Advocate for the 12th Congressional District through the Alzheimer’s Association.
“An Introduction To Brain Health and Alzheimer’s” is free and open to the public.
