Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday. The Thanksgiving holiday kicks off a wonderful Season of Giving. My favorite is Giving Tuesday.  Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday was designed as a day to encourage people to do good, collaborate with others, and contribute to organizations who need financial support and volunteers from the community.

This “global generosity movement” has grown tremendously over the past seven years, and many non-profit organizations count on the giving spirit to help fund the amazing work they do year-round.

There are many reasons and ways to support Giving Tuesday efforts.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Make a donation. It’s so easy to get caught up in the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Most people, however, get more satisfaction by giving to others. Nothing beats the feeling of contributing funds to a charity that makes a difference in the lives of others.

Donations of every amount are appreciated. Some donors can contribute more than others, but don’t let the size of your gift deter you from giving any amount. Many smaller donations add up quickly and help provide valuable goods and services.

Can’t choose a charity? You don’t have to choose just one. Pick several organizations and know that your donation is much appreciated and, along with others, helps fund big endeavors.

There are tax benefits to donating to non-profits as well. Contributions may be tax deductible! Save your receipts and remember where they are when you file your taxes.

Can’t give financially? Give your time. Time and talent are also valuable gifts to all non-profits.  You can also share fundraising efforts on social media, or by word of mouth. We are all powerful voices for good.

Encourage others to give as well. Let everyone have the satisfaction of giving back. Together, we can make a real difference by inspiring and celebrating generosity.
