PATERSON, NJ – The Passaic County One-Stop partners with many non-profit organizations throughout Passaic County. One of these partners is St Paul’s located in Paterson.
St Paul’s serves people through their adult education and youth programs, inlucding their nationally recognized culinary program.
“We send our customers to the One-Stop to get them the training they need and then they go straight to the kitchen to learn different kitchen skills,” said Quayshaela Davis, Program Director.
St Paul’s culinary program feeds 150 needy families per week as a way of both giving back to the community and providing an opportunity for the students to learn. Over 80% of the students’ time is spent in the kitchen gaining hands on experience.
St Paul’s also assists out of school youth obtain a high school diploma so that they will be able to more easily obtain work. Clients that already have a diploma are able to go into adult education courses if necessary and be placed into work sites that fit client interests.
Some clients go to St Paul’s programs having not been in the classroom in many years. Oftentimes, these clients need extra care in order to help them get their basic skills such as math and reading to a more proficient level.
