At their June 18th Knights meeting the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council #6203 handed out their 2018-2019 End of Year Highest Council Awards.  Grand Knight Joe Wilkowski presented the 2019 South Plainfield Knights of Columbus “Knight of the Year” Award to Charlie Butrico Jr

Charlie is a very active member of the South Plainfield Knights and followed in the footsteps of his Father Charlie Butrico Sr and brothers, Bill, Mike and Vinny and nephew Gerry who are also Knights of Columbus .

Charlie received this Knight of the Year award for his many dedicated years to the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus. Charlie is the Treasurer for the Knights Council and supports many of the biggest fundraisers the Knights run every year.

Charlie is the emcee and makes up all the questions for the annual Knights Trivia Night Fundraiser where all proceeds go to the Make a Wish foundation. Charlie also runs the kitchen during the Scared Heart Lenten Fish Dinners, he supports all of the other Knights and volunteers to make this event run very smooth each year. For an added bonus Charlie makes his world famous Rice balls each week and donates them to residents who support the Fish Dinners.

Charlie also supports the Knights of Columbus Special Citizens Drive with sending local business letters asking for donations. In addition Charlie also helped at the Somerset Patriots Games with running the snack stand, Keystone Christmas and St. Patrick’s Dinners, Fall Mum’s Sale, the OLC Feast of Saint Anthony Carnival, Don't Cook Friday Spaghetti Dinners and the Veterans Lunches.

Charlie has also supported the Community of South Plainfield as Councilman and Mayor for many years, as well supported Sacred Heart Church, the Youth and especially his family.
