South Plainfield Library

Did you miss a movie that you wanted to see in the theaters and don’t want to pay to rent it or for the DVD?  Come to “Monday Night Movies” at the library.  It’s all the fun of a movie theater but none of the cost.  We are showing brand new releases every Monday night and we will be providing popcorn for all who attend. This week’s movie stars Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant, Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Helberg.  The movie begins at 6:30pm and is rated PG-13.  Florence Foster Jenkins (Streep) is one of those rare people who believes that she can do anything she sets her mind to unfortunately, however, she can't. With the worst singing voice in the world, this New York socialite sets out to make sure that the entire world hears her. Of course, obstacles do pop up, but Florence's enduring spirit takes her all the way to Carnegie Hall, where she needs to put on the show of a lifetime in order to prove her worth.  The movie that is shown on Monday night will also be shown again on the subsequent Wednesday at 12:15 pm for those that can’t make the Monday night showing or don’t like to drive at night.  Stop by the library and pick up a schedule of the movies being played.

The South Plainfield Public Library is partnering with the Professional Service Group of New Brunswick (PSGNB) to offer a program to help job seekers with writing resumes and other job search skills.  PSGNB will provide a volunteer to hold on site one on one coaching sessions customized to meet the needs of the individual job seeker.  Sessions will be by appointment only on Mondays from 1-4pm and at other times subject to availability.  The Professional Service Group of New Brunswick, a member supported organization, has helped over 9,000 people find their next job.  They provide free Job Search Skills Seminars and a Job Seeker Support Group at the Piscataway libraries.  Visit their website for details.  To sign up for an appointment, please call the South Plainfield Library at 908-754-7885.
