Did you miss a movie that you wanted to see in the theaters and don’t want to pay to rent it or for the DVD? Come to “Monday Night Movies” at the library. It’s all the fun of a movie theater but none of the cost. We are showing brand new releases every Monday night and we will be providing popcorn for all who attend. This week’s movie stars Anna Faris, Eva Longoria, and Eugenio Derbez. Leonardo (Derbez), a rich billionaire playboy, falls from his yacht during a wild party waking up hospitalized and with amnesia. He is persuaded by Kate (Faris), a single mom recently unjustly fired by him and looking for payback, that he is her husband and returns to her home. Being unfamiliar with work and family, Leonardo muddles forward eventually gaining their trust and more. While struggling to regain his memory Leonardo’s wealthy family is piecing together clues to find him. Will he be lured back into a life as a selfish playboy or keep his hard-won respectability and a life with Kate? It's classic role reversal in this remake of an iconic 1987s comedy. The movie is rated pg-13. The movie that is shown on Monday night will also be shown again on the subsequent Wednesday at 12:30 pm for those that can’t make the Monday night showing or don’t like to drive at night. Stop by the library and pick up a schedule of the movies being shown.

On Saturday, August 4 at 2:30pm, South Plainfield Public Library welcomes the Hit the Roof Band who reinvigorates old songs with a new twist. Experience music like never before. With a taste of some of the twentieth century's most important musical movements, Hit the Roof Band offers an interactive musical program, presenting Jazz and Blues styles that emanated from the Harlem Renaissance and from the southern United States. The duet of keyboardist and drummer start off with a bit of ragtime-stride, and then on into the era of swing and boogie-woogie. Then, they embark on rock n ' roll frenzy, all the while explaining the history and icons behind the movement. Continuing the performance into the style of New Orleans piano, a style with roots steeped in boogie-woogie, gospel, classical, and funk, the band takes a slower approach to the blues. They transform the musical experience by giving the listener more ways to relate to and understand the music as well as breaking the barrier between the artists and the audience, making the performance a more personal and interactive experience. Matt plays the piano, writes the melodies, the words, and produces. Albert plays the drums. It's one thing to feel the rhythm; it's another to play it. Do you want to have an unforgettable experience? Then join them and become one with the music. This interactive experience should not be missed by all aficionados of good music and a soul! Please register for this program by calling the South Plainfield Public Library at 908-754-7885 or stop by.
