In the two years SUEZ has been working with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority, the company has made significant progress and brought great value to the region and its customers.
Mohawk Valley is a large region of central New York, right in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains and the Catskill Mountains. The region covers a total of seven counties housing approximately one million residents. The Hinckley Water treatment plant, which SUEZ has been operating, managing and maintaining since August of 2017, services approximately 126,500 residents.
As the water industry is continuously growing and developing, the Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA) turned to SUEZ to ensure that they were prepared to face all future challenges. Since start of the contract, SUEZ has done an entire audit of the water systems and made upgrades where needed. One of the many upgrades included a revamp of their backwash systems. Doing so allowed the plant to save 100,000 to 250,000 gallons of water per day. Additionally, upgrades to the filtration system will save MVWA $350,000 annually.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority,” said Jon Arneth, SUEZ’s project manager for the Mohawk Valley project. “Together we have been able to provide Mohawk Valley residents with exceptional drinking water while providing significant cost savings as well.”
MVWA Director of Water Quality added, “This relationship is strong because both Suez and MVWA have goals to produce and deliver high quality drinking water using the most efficient means. Collaboratively, we capitalize on our scientific and engineering leadership, superior staff, and the latest advancements in the drinking water industry. This is a major factor in the high quality of life offered in the Mohawk Valley and provides opportunity for economic development in the region.”
Part of running a reliable water system is to try to anticipate the unexpected. The improvements SUEZ has made, and continues to make, will maintain high-level service and superior water quality, despite ever-changing industry challenges.
