More than 1,000 pieces of art from all nine of our schools will be displayed in this year’s art show, “Art Through the Ages,” which opens at the Livingston Mall on Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m.
The artwork being displayed includes paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculptures, metal arts, collages, mixed media and a range of interdisciplinary projects developed in conjunction with classroom teachers.
Pieces are representative of the Visual Arts Curriculum of Livingston Public Schools, which is based upon the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in the Visual and Performing Arts.
The show is a culmination of a year-long series of projects and exhibits shown both within the District and throughout the State.
“The excitement and percentage of student participation is fantastic,” said Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts Bob Wirth. “This is a great showcase made possible by the support of all the parents in the community, the Livingston Board of Education, and the talented, professional teachers at each of our schools.”
Prior to the opening reception at 6 p.m., music will be provided by the Livingston High School Lancer Jazz Band and the Livingston Lab Jazz Band under the direction of James Hegedus and Michael Jedwabnik. During the reception, members of the Livingston High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society will serve as ushers. Many of the student artists and their teachers will be present and light refreshments will be served.
Members of the Livingston Public Schools Art Department include: Kathie Abrams, Nancy Babey, Arlene Brown, Jason Daily, Nadia Bacher, Pamela Fenelon, Alexandra Fiore, Tori Gioioso, Chris Iannuzzi, Linda Kleban, Barbara Levy, Linda Majzner, Dolly Mendes, Steven Milano, Janice Reis, Wendy Rosenberg, and Jennifer Sarracino.
The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, April 27 during mall hours on the upper level, by Modell’s and Center Court. We hope you will take the opportunity to come see the creative works of our students.
