The featured TAPinto franchisee for March 2020 is business executive and accountant Hope White, owner/publisher of TAPinto Montville.

Q. Why did you want to franchise your TAPinto site? What caused you to choose Montville as your TAPinto location?

My family moved to Montville 8 years ago and at that time I decided to “retire” from my career in public accounting. About a year after we moved, the opportunity to start-up a new TAPinto franchise in Montville presented itself. After some careful consideration, I decided this new venture could allow me the opportunity to meet new people, get to know the town that we now called home and provide a flexible work environment where I could work around our family schedule and ‘bring my kids to work’ most days in an effort to expose our children to many of the activities Montville has to offer. These activities have run the gamut from township and board of education meetings to high school sporting events to the grand opening of local businesses to theatrical performances and it’s been a great experience having my children ‘along for the ride.’

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Q. You have an interesting background.  Can you tell us about it a little bit?

I attended college at Rider University and the University of Richmond, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, passing my CPA exam in the spring of my senior year. Out of college I was hired by Coopers & Lybrand, which eventually merged to form PricewaterhouseCoopers, and I spent the next 20 years in audit and mergers and acquisitions focusing on the healthcare industry.

Q. What do you enjoy covering the most in Montville?

I really enjoy covering high school sports. Whether the teams are on a winning streak or not having the best season ever, it’s nice to try and highlight the hard work and dedication of the athletes throughout the season. My favorite aspect of this is trying to get good action photos to go along with the story. I’ll take 200-300 photos per game in an effort to capture a player in action! I still have my own high school scrapbook filled with newspaper clippings; with TAPinto Montville being an all online newspaper, it will make it easier for these athletes to relive some of their high school memories.

 Q. Is TAPinto full time for you? If not, what do you also do?

Yes, TAPinto is my full time business.

Q. How do you think businesses and readers can best utilize TAPinto Montville? What advantages does TAPinto have that other marketing platforms lack?

TAPinto Montville has many advantages over other marketing platforms with the key differentiator being that we have a true vested interest in the community and seeing the businesses and organizations in town succeed. Being a resident of Montville, I take that very seriously and work hard to help ensure our readers are informed and our local businesses and organizations gain added exposure by advertising with us. I am very passionate about our platform being a reliable and trusted news source for our community. TAPinto is an affordable way for businesses to promote events, sales, open houses, employee achievements, etc. and readers can submit stories and press releases about activities around town.

Q. What are some of your business strengths? What’s something you would like to work on?

After working for 20 years in public accounting, I think I have developed strong communication skills as well as being approachable and honest. I really enjoy talking to businesses about TAPinto Montville and I honestly believe I’m able to achieve a ‘win-win’ partnership with my clients.  I would like to continue working on my organization skills in an effort to keep a healthy level of work-life balance.

Q. Describe the TAPinto culture.

In a few words, I would describe TAPinto’s culture as collaborative, caring, responsive and progressive. TAPinto is a family of franchisees who work independently for each town, while simultaneously working together to support one another and the TAPinto brand in countless ways every day to make each other stronger thereby strengthening the whole organization. From a corporate perspective, TAPinto listens to the needs of the franchisees and works tirelessly to keep our product offerings, systems and communications on point and ahead of the curve.

Q. What are your goals at TAPinto? Any future plans for TAPinto Montville?

My goals are to continue focusing on the growth of TAPinto Montville’s readership and business partners by engaging in local events and bringing added variety to our local news stories. I would like to hire a sales professional and possibly find a business partner to franchise TAPinto in a neighboring town.

Q.  Is there anything else you'd like to say?

I am honored to be chosen as this month’s Featured Franchisee and continue my dedication to building a strong, trusted hyper-local news source in Montville focused on bringing our residents, businesses and organizations together by sharing the great things going on in and around our town. I am also grateful for the support of our town’s readers, advertisers, sponsors, businesses and residents.
