Tie a Bow offers hand-picked food display and decoration rentals for unique celebrations where renters can shop by item type including bowls, cake stands, decorations, jars, lighted pieces, mini-furniture, risers, silhouettes, stools, trays and plates, vases and bottles, theme and color. Each item is listed on an easy-to-use website with specs including material, color, style, dimensions and information, such as how many desserts of a certain type, like cupcakes, can fit on top.
Claudia says that Tie a Bow was founded with party lovers of all types in mind—those who know exactly what they want and those who aren’t quite sure and are looking for some inspiration. For a small fee, Claudia will send you a questionnaire and based on your answers, Claudia will set up a table with items that match the questionnaire and send photos. Once satisfied, the renter receives a final photo with an exact list of all items used for placing the order.
“I offer this option so that my renters know exactly what they are getting and how to replicate setting up their tables at home,” said Claudia.
Claudia, a native of Brazil who has lived in the United States for nine years, recently launched her company to support people throwing small to medium-sized parties with quality curated rental items. She says that in Brazil, there are many stores offering this type of service and that she was amazed to discover that there weren’t any in the U.S.
Instead of opening a physical store, she decided to create a website to launch her idea. She says she may open a brick and mortar location in the future.
The busy mother of three says she had the inspiration to open Tie a Bow while running around to many different stores trying to find decoration items and food displays that would go along with the party theme she was planning. In the end, she ended up with many items that she would never use again and had to store in her home.
She tried searching for a place where she could rent decorations and food displays with no luck. When she couldn’t find a store that would provide the delicate, handcrafted items to rent that she was looking for – Tie a Bow was born.
“I have always tried to come up with fun, unique decoration ideas and themes to celebrate special occasions in my family from my own baby showers, to my children’s birthdays, Mother’s Day, my husband’s 40th birthday party and more,” says Claudia.
Her goal is to create an easy, practical and cost-effective experience for renters, where they get to host a beautiful, one-of-a kind party and save money by not having to buy tons of things they will never use again.
The website operates like a hotel rental site. Every item available is listed by collection and is visible on the site. When the user goes to rent an item, they see a calendar that either indicates an item is available of not for the specified date.
Items arrive in easy-to-open bins with unpacking and re-packing instructions, assembly tips and return instructions. There are two ways to receive these rentals. A customer can choose to pick-up and return the rental at Tie a Bow's location in Little Falls, which is free of charge, or Tie a Bow will deliver and pick-up the rented items for a fee. Weekend rentals are picked up/delivered on Friday and returned on Monday and mid-week rentals are picked up/delivered on Monday and returned on Friday.
Claudia says she is open to collaboration with event planners, photographers, caterers, bakers, designers, artists, florists and more, and that she also offers a curated list of top vendors for referral.
In addition, Claudia says she is always open to item suggestions, as she is often on the prowl searching for great items to add to her collections. She’s also very open to buying from people if the items are right and in perfect shape. In fact, she’s currently in the process of buying vintage items to finish a collection.
Claudia says she is very excited to share her business with the mompreneur community.
“I imagine many busy mompreneurs have endured my same struggle of trying to find the right items for a perfect table,” says Claudia.
