SAGE Eldercare
Incorporated in 1954, SAGE Eldercare supports the independence, well-being and quality of life of older adults, their families and caregivers, through the provision of client-centered health, social and support services. SAGE Eldercare, a private, nonprofit organization, is distinguished among elder service providers in being not only the only agency in New Jersey of its kind but also one of the few in the United States that offers a comprehensive array of services under one roof. SAGE started one of NJ's first Meals on Wheels programs in 1966 and opened one of the state's first adult day care programs in 1975. Many of the services and programs provided by SAGE Eldercare today have served as models for other public and private agencies. SAGE currently offers twelve programs that serve more than 5,000 older people and their families annually in Union, Morris, Somerset and Essex counties.
With the support of 45 staff members and over 600 volunteers, SAGE provides a wide array of programs for independent, healthy people over 60 years of age, active caregivers, concerned friends and family members of all ages, and seniors needing direct care or assistance. Our continuum of programs and services improve the health, well-being and independence of older adults and allow them to remain living in their own homes, without the threat of institutionalization, for as long as possible.
