ABCs of Candy

We often think about candy at Halloween, Easter, or Valentine’s Day, but it is a year-round treat that we all enjoy.

If you have ever been curious about the origin and history of candy, come and enjoy this program on the evening of Monday Feb 4th, at 7 pm.

The program will be presented by a staff member of the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts.

ABCs of Candy will explore the history of a variety of different candies, including some that have been around for well over 100 years and some that are quite new. The program is conducted alphabetically, discussing a different candy for each letter of the alphabet, but addresses broader themes, including when and why American consumption of candy increased.

The program concludes with some sugary and sugar-free samplings.

Located in downtown Madison, METC (www.metc.org) explores American history with a focus on the life and stories of 18th- and 19th- century craftsmen and artisans. Drawing on its rich collection, METC is connecting the lives of people and their stories, while providing a bridge from the past to the future.

The program is free and open to all.
