Four Greek Gods: Demeter, Apollo, Hermes and Aphrodite

These less famous cousin texts to Homeric epic reveal many interesting facets of the gods praised: we will read how Aphrodite fell in love herself, seduced a mortal lover, and got embarrassingly pregnant; how the baby Hermes invented the musical lyre and stole his brother Apollo's cattle during his first day of life; how Demeter searched for her lost daughter and along the way founded an entirely new type of religion at Eleusis; and how the young Apollo slew a menacing dragon and took over her sacred oracle.
