"George Washington, NJ, and the Revolutionary War"

The Livingston Public Library invites the public to a presentation, “George Washington, New Jersey and the Revolutionary War,” on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 7:00 pm.. Joel Farkas, who is a volunteer docent and tour guide for the National Park Service at Washington's Headquarters (the Ford Mansion) in Morristown, New Jersey, will offer at The lecture will touch on a number of historical events, beginning with The French and Indian war. Adult Services librarian Christine Demidowich explained that Mr. Farkas will do a recap of the Revolutionary War, including The Boston Tea Party, the Declaration of Independence, the battles in Trenton, Princeton, and the Monmouth Courthouse, and the crossing of the Delaware. Mr. Farkas will also offer a visual tour of The Ford Mansion (Washington’s Headquarters) looking at some of the historical artifacts in the mansion, their stories, and in some cases their connection to George Washington. He will relive George Washington’s stay there including his tattered army in nearby freezing quarters, the enemy at hand, his government’s unwillingness to supply needed support and more. Admission is free and registration is not required.
