Immigrant State: New Jersey's Influential Gate

New Jersey has a big story about immigration, packed into a small state! Through the examination of film clips, texts, and media coverage, participants will have a candid discussion about issues that are being examined and debated, nationally and in local communities. Come learn how our past shapes our collective future. Presented by Dr. Carlos Ulises Decena (Associate Professor and Chair, Latino and Caribbean Studies, Rutgers University). This program is funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities and is part of our American Creed: Community Conversations series. American Creed: Community Conversations is a project of Citizen Film in partnership with the American Library Association and the National Writing Project, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
