One River School of Art + Design Summer Camp (August 27 - August 31)

Life Size Aliens | k - 2nd Grade | 9:30 - 12:00

Greetings! Join us for a week of intergalactic fun! In this camp, students will explore outer space and build a large scale, life size alien sculpture using mixed media.

 

Cartooning | 3rd - 5th Grade | 12:30 - 3:00

Contemporary cartoonists endeavor to create innovative storylines featuring fun and interesting characters, inspiring today’s students to do the same. Students will explore and experiment with the variety of cartooning platforms such as comic strips, comic books, illustrations, storyboards, and many more. They will demonstrate their creativity and imagination through original creations of characters and stories.

 

Botanic Watercolor Painting | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12:00

Translucent orchids, fragrant roses and blooming tulips – this course will examine botanical life by creating a series of intricate watercolor paintings. Instructors will demonstrate watercolor techniques using washes, glazes, wet in wet, dry brush, pen/ink and adding in substances salt, alcohol and other substances that create magical textures and patterns.

 

Manga & Anime | 6th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 3:00

Manga comics have a long history in Japanese art, and in the following years became increasingly popular worldwide. Their highly stylized characteristics and engaging storylines have become a cultural phenomenon. Students will work in a variety of media to create their own interpretations of manga characters and comics demonstrating their technical drawing skills as well as their creativity and imagination.

 

Character Animation | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12:00

Digital Manga & Anime | 6th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 3:00

Their highly stylized characteristics and engaging storylines have become a cultural phenomenon. Students will work in Sketchbook Pro to create their own interpretations of manga characters and comics demonstrating their technical digital drawing and painting skills as well as their creativity and imagination.
