Party Hearty in the Middle Ages Through Westfield Library

Former Metropolitan Museum of Art curator Michael Norris and favorite speaker at the library will present this talk.

Despite the Middle Ages still sometimes being called the Dark Ages, people in that era often enjoyed good times, especially at the table. Through art and archeology, viewers will learn about medieval foods and their preparation—including a recipe for roast unicorn.

They will also learn about the rules and ceremonies under which these sumptuous foods were presented and the types of entertainment guests might enjoy. Norris will show works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Met's Cloisters Museum throughout his talk.
