Sparta Police: Speeding, Open Beers Leads to Trouble for Newton Man

SPARTA, NJ – A Newton man is facing drunk driving charges after being stopped for speeding on Woodport Road.  On February 16 around 2 a.m. Officer Michael Poon stopped Tyler Wehreberg  for driving 61 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, police said.

SPARTA, NJ – A Lake Hopatcong man was stopped on Woodport Road and ended up in custody.  On February 14 around 7:30 a.m. Cpl. Marc Rubino saw Anthony Bellina, 33, in his VW Passat without his seatbelt on, police report.

SPARTA, NJ – Two men were sleeping on the shoulder on Route 15 south when Officer Brian Porter stopped to check on them.  On February 4 around 10:55 p.m. Richard Walko, 23 and Kevin Murray, 24 told the officer they were just tired from a day of hiking, so they stopped to take a nap, police said.
