Barnegat Man Dies After Being Struck by Train in Asbury Park

ASBURY PARK - A Barnegat man died after being hit by a train in Asbury Park Sunday night, according to NJ Transit.

James Kessock, 34, of Barnegat, was found along the track lines near First Avenue around 9:55 p.m. NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said.

 The New Jersey Transit police are investigating and the North Jersey Coast Line rail service was temporarily suspended.

BARNEGAT - Barnegat Police Chief Keith Germain reported his third update of the day in regard to a threat at Barnegat High School today.

School Officials Report Threat at Barnegat High School

BARNEGAT - Principal Magee posted an email to families at 11:13 a.m. today about a threat at Barnegat High School.  All of the students were evacuated to an alternative location.

The District is working with Barnegat Police as they investigate. Principal Magee reported that all students are safe and secure.
