Americans nationwide are feeling the pinch of inflation, but perhaps nowhere more than in our country’s underserved communities.

One such community is Asbury Park, New Jersey, located within FirstEnergy’s Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) service territory, where more than 22 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. In February 2022, the New Jersey ...

It's Time to Reject the Mega Warehouse Application

August 8, 2022

I am having a difficult time understanding why the DCR application has not been either rejected or denied at this point. The Diamond Chip Realty (DCR) buildings and site design were deemed to be non-complaint and unapprovable by the Sparta Planning Board (PB) at the July 6 PB meeting. DCR was given a time frame of a few weeks to submit a new design, which the PB and DCR mutually agreed ...

Is free speech just a rumor in Sparta?

I am a member of the Sparta Ambulance Squad; however, my opinions expressed are my own, and do not represent the Sparta Ambulance Squad Officers or members. I am also not a member of the Sparta Fire Department, I do not opine on their behalf. I have not been asked by either organization to post on their behalf, nor would I do so if asked.

I have been a member of Volunteer Emergency ...

TAPinto South Plainfield Publisher Darlene Tedesco-Cullen Named Grand Marshal of Labor Day Parade

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — When Darlene Tedesco-Cullen received a call from South Plainfield Councilwoman Christine Faustini to talk about the borough's annual Labor Day parade, Tedesco-Cullen thought she knew what it was about.

"Usually I help judge the floats, so I figured she was going to ask me if I was going to be around Labor Day to judge again," Tedesco-Cullen, the ...

Fear of Teeth

It is a particularly hot day at the beach. Another in a string of sweltering afternoons that warrant the understated designation of “heat wave”. My skin feels gooey, a mixture of salty sweat and sunscreen. Flopped on a large beach blanket, a sparse coating of sand makes me feel like a breaded cutlet on an oven rack.

When I can no longer bear the oppressive heat, I scamper ...
