Daniel Hogan age 90 died of complications related to a battle with cancer and dementia on July 21st 2020 at Parker Nursing Home Somerset in Franklin Twp. NJ.
Born in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland, Daniel immigrated to Princeton, NJ in 1949 eventually moving to South Plainfield where he resided with his family since 1970.
Daniel was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Gibbons) Hogan, 2009, his brother John Hogan, 2013, and his sister Angela Lavelle, 2017.
He is survived by his daughter Maureen Cummings, her husband Michael, and two grandchildren Mary Kate and Jack Cummings, from Metuchen, NJ. , his son Aidan Hogan and his wife Katrina from Old Bridge, NJ. Also, surviving are his brother Michael Hogan and Mary Bergin both still current residents of Birr, County Offaly, Ireland.
Daniel was a communicant of Sacred Heart in South Plainfield well renowned for his hospitality, and neighborliness. Danny and Peggy’s house was a little slice of Ireland on the corner Avon Ave. and Norwood, famous for a hot cup of tea, to warm the soul, or a cold beer on a hot summer’s day. Danny played a mean accordion, somewhat mastering over 25 Irish songs. He served in the Army National Guard and worked as Chief of Security for Elastic Stop Nut Corporation for 23 years also working in a similar capacity for both American Hess and Private Formulations Corp.
Visitation will be held in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Sunday July 26, 2020 from 2-4PM.
A Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
Proper face coverings will be required for all services.
