Middlebury – Lawrence “Chip” Gamache, age 64, died peacefully at home in Middlebury, VT on May 5, 2021 following a valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Lawrence and Kathryn Gamche. Chip attended schools in South Plainfield, NJ. He joined the US Navy in 1974, serving with the Seabees and on the super carrier USS Nimitz. He was employed by Standard Register, and was self-employed in various aspects of construction for many years. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. Chip was an excellent cook and loved to cook for family and friends. He always enjoyed having fun with his many friends in and around Middlebury. One of the places nearest and dearest to his heart was Sovie’s Evergreen Cottages on the St. Lawrence River in Ogdensburg, NY, where he loved spending time with cherished friends and family.
Chip is survived by his mother, Kathryn Gamache of NJ; his sisters Nicole (Al) Colantoni of FL, and Laurie (Vic) Kurilew of NJ, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Willow Wheelock.
He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence Gamache.
There will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
