It is with our deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Stanislawa Z. Rosnowski M.D. on May 4, 2020 at the age of 81.
Keja, as her friends called her, was born on April 18, 1939, in Nowy Targ, Poland. In 1962, she completed medical school at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland where she specialized in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT).
In 1973, she immigrated to the United States with her husband Wojciech Rosnowski Ph.D. They settled in Chatham, N.J. shortly thereafter and Keja took her medical internship and residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. Once completed, she opened her private pediatrics practice on Main Street in Chatham where she served the Chatham community for over 30 years.
In addition to practicing as a pediatrician, Keja was also a lifelong humanitarian. During the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, and with the help of Overlook Hospital, she regularly organized shipments of medical supplies to Poland, where they were desperately needed. She was recognized for those efforts several times and ultimately received the Dr. Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Gold Medal Award in Warsaw, Poland in 2007.
In her retirement, she loved to play bridge, bake bread, exercise and be around her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Wojciech of Chatham, N.J.; daughter Susan Beers and son-in-law David Beers of Cedar Knolls, N.J.; son Robert Rosnowski and daughter-in-law Suzanne Rosnowski of Chatham, N.J.; and five grandchildren: Julia Beers, Tyler Beers, Alex Rosnowski, Kate Rosnowski, and Cara Rosnowski.
She was a loved, respected and admired wife, mother, doctor, grandmother, and friend.
