Steven J. Madonna of New Providence, NJ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 78.

Steven J. Madonna of New Providence, NJ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 78.                

Funeral services are under the direction of Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ.   Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 10:30 on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South Avenue, New Providence, NJ. Steven was born in Newark, NJ to Mary (nee Laratta) and Alexander Madonna.  He met and married his beloved wife Sherron “Sherry” Madonna (nee Cordillo) and raised their family in New Providence.

He graduated from LaSalle University, received his JD from the University of Notre Dame and his Master of Law from New York University.  A distinguished lawyer, he held numerous positions in government and private practice.  Positions he held include, Assistant County Prosecutor for Morris County, Deputy Attorney General for NJ Division of Criminal Justice, Assistant Attorney General and NJ State Environmental Prosecutor. Steven went on to have a successful private practice, a general law firm concentrating in Environmental Law.  He also served as an adjunct professor of Business and Social Sciences, Criminal Justice Program for Morris County College. 

Steven was known and admired by many in his community.  He was a proud member of the Lions Club, Unico and Knights of Columbus and on the president’s board at LaSalle University.  A strong active member of his parish, he served on the parish council at Our Lady of Peace Church. 

Steven is survived by his beloved wife Sherry Madonna;  his cherished children, Joanne (Craig) Morse, Alisa (Brian) Madonna Taylor and Steven (Rachel) Madonna; his sister Rafaella M. Rasi and his beloved grandchildren, Cole Morse, Zada Madonna, Tenzin Madonna and Lincoln Taylor; as well as his sisters and brothers in law, and nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Joanne Marie Madonna.
