WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Public School district has an outstanding and award winning music program, from Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, Strings, and Chorus. On Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., Liberty Middle School will host the Twelfth Annual Music Faculty Scholarship Concert, featuring the instructors that have nurtured West Orange music students and developed the programs that other districts emulate.
The program will include music teachers from the elementary, middle and high schools. Several of the teachers are themselves professional musicians with years of expertise in their craft. For students and parents in the school district, many of the scheduled performers are talented and beloved musical teachers and mentors.
The audience can expect to be entertained with contemporary and classical instrumentals and vocals. Some of the scheduled program highlights are:
"Over the Rainbow," with vocals by John Hellyer and Jay Gitter; Dave Rimelis on ukelele
"Gangnam Style" arranged by Lew Kelly
The WOBOE Jazz Ensemble performing "Tenor Madness" and "Spain."
Scheduled performers will also include Director of Fine Arts Lou Quagliato, Joel Perry, Joe Romano, and Erin McClure.
The concert is free but donations are encouraged, with proceeds going towards music scholarships for graduating seniors.
