“The BAC is very excited to be offering our first virtual art exhibit. Even though we are closed to the public we are still an active and vibrant organization serving the artists of the area,” said BAC chairwoman Beverly R. Miller, who serves on the photography exhibition committee with Michael S. Miller.

Serving as jurors for the “Gallery of Images” show are noted photographer Debra L. Rothenberg and contemporary multimedia artist Catherine Trapani.

Rothenberg is known for her photographic images of concerts, celebrities, news, sports, children and events.  Her work has been distributed and exhibited worldwide in galleries, newspapers, magazines and books, as well as on CD covers and many websites.

The New York City resident earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in photographic illustration/photojournalism from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Trapani has studied studio arts at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, and Pratt Institute in Seattle, where she also completed digital and film studies at the Photographic Center Northwest.

Her artwork investigates the relationship between order and chaos.  It is often discreetly photo-based, using digital and hand techniques to alter imagery. It has been exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum and Portland Art Museum.  She was an original member of Seattle Print Arts.

For 25 years, Trapani has taught classes throughout the United States and currently teaches at the Encaustic Art Institute of New Mexico, as well as from her studio in Santa Fe.

The online deadline to enter is today, June 22 at noon. There is a maximum of five submission by each photographer. All works entered must be original photographs by the photographer and not previously exhibited at the BAC. Click here for the entry form and complete rules.

All accepted artwork will be posted on the BAC website on Tuesday, June 30. A virtual opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 5 p.m. In addition to the awarding of prizes, all winning artists will also receive a complimentary art book of the exhibit's work.

In addition, 10 percent of all entry fees will benefit Asbury Park Dinner Table, a nonprofit group created to support local restaurants while feeding local families during the coronavirus pandemic.
