BEACH HAVEN — Chris Vernon and his Mercer Management Team appeared before the Beach Haven Land Use Board on Monday night for approximately three hours to continue their application to develop Morrison's Marina and convert it into a brand new Beach Haven Hotel and Marina.
The meeting began with Vernon's attorney Arnold C. Lakind interviewing a number of witnesses. After each witness' testimony, the Land Use Board members asked questions of clarification of Vernon, his witnesses and professionals.
Eileen Dolan began with a continuation of her testimony in the February meeting about traffic flow in the summer months. She provided additional data and extensively answered concerns of the members. Meghan Jacobs, Director of Hospitality next presented an overview of the hotel, bar and restaurant operations.
Fran Kleber, who has operated the Morrison's Marina since 1991 explained the marina operations. Kleber will join Vernon's team and continue to assist operating the marina.
Vernon's team presented an overview of the CAFRA or Coastal Area Facility Review Act process. That permit application is expected to take a minimum of six months for completion.
Last night's meeting ended and will continue at the Land Use Board's next meeting on Monday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at the Surflight Theatre.
After Mr. Vernon's team completes their presentation, the meeting will move to the public comment portion of the application. It is not clear if the final vote will take place at the April meeting. The Beach Haven Land Use Board meets on the first Monday of each month.
