One day, in the early 1930s, the English philologist and university professor, J.R.R. Tolkien, found a blank page and, suddenly inspired, wrote the words, "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." And so began one of the world's most beloved books. The performance features Jane Smith as furry-footed filcher Bilbo Baggins; Michael Jarmus as wandering wizard Gandalf the Gray, ring-corrupted river hobbit Gollum the Green, and fearsome fire drake Smaug the Golden: and Alex Dawson as dwarf doyen Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, and assorted other characters (plus sound effects).
RACONTEUR RADIO stages theatrical presentations of vintage radio plays, classic works of literature, and pop culture parodies for live audiences throughout the Tri-State area. For the foreseeable future, their live presentations will be presented virtually.
