WARREN, NJ - 2020 Summer Camp season will not be held in Warren and Watchung this year.

In Warren the Recreation Commission said:

Governor Murphy and the New Jersey Department of Health have issued guidelines for Youth Camps, which we have reviewed. After careful consideration, keeping in mind the safety of all campers and staff, the Recreation Department with the support of the Township Committee has determined that the 2020 Summer Camp season will not be held. This has been a difficult decision as these are important programs to the Township and community.

In place of the Summer Playground Program, the Recreation Department will be offering a Virtual Summer Playground Program to Warren Residents entering grades K-5 in September. The camp is a 4-week program that will run from July 6-July 30, Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-11:00am and the cost is $25 per child. Campers will participate in various activities such as a social aspect including show and tell, physical activities like yoga, live read aloud, art programs, virtual tours and more! Visit our website at www.warrennj.org/youth-2/ for more information and details on registration.

We look forward to holding the camps again in 2021.

After careful consideration, the Borough of Watchung has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Recreation Summer Camp program. Due to the strict guidelines from the CDC and considering the safety of our staff and students, the Board of Health, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Borough Municipal Council made this determination. As restrictions lift and restrooms become available, we are hopeful that we will be able to hold some outdoor programs, with social distancing procedures in place, in the coming weeks. This decision has been incredibly challenging but it is in the best interest of the residents of Watchung and for the safety of our youth. Please visit our website at www.watchungnj.gov for updated information and for programs as they become available. We look forward to holding the Watchung Recreation summer camp program again in 2021.
