LIVINGSTON, NJ – Members of the Livingston Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Rudy Fernandez and old friends of Seymour’s held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday to welcome the new owners of Bagels & Burgers, located at 567 South Livingston Ave.
Bagels & Burgers recently opened in the old location of Seymour’s, a small mom and pop dinette that had been a Livingston fixture for well over 30 years.
“It looks beautiful,” said Ruth Schram, wife to Seymour Schram and co-founder of Seymour’s.
Now that the location has reopened for business under a new name and by a new husband and wife team, Wally and Guida Sabry, locals like Cookie Schneiderman, daughter Harriet and grandson Jason are hoping to return to the spot as regulars.
“We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening. It’s delicious,” said Cookie.
“They have a great menu with a good variety and the bagels are very fresh,” added Harriet.
On their first visit, the threesome enjoyed bagels with cream cheese and lox and shared a potato spinach knish.
“I usually don’t like spinach but I love this,” said Jason.
Other locals such as Mary Ann Beltz and Lisa Prata from Valley National Bank have already claimed Bagels & Burgers as a regular go-to lunch spot.
“The ruebens are to die for,” said Beltz, “everything I’ve tried so far is outrageous.”
“The fajita wrap is my favorite,” added Prata. “It’s spicy.”
Bagels & Burgers is open seven days a week and features hand rolled fresh baked bagels, authentic gourmet, hot food, soups and salads.
