FAIR LAWN, NJ - The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation is sponsoring a local gift card program to stimulate purchases at borough businesses, and it begins today.
Beginning October 10, patrons can purchase the giftcards on www.fairlawngiftcards.com. Cards can be purchased between October 1 and October 25 and used between October 26 and November 20. After that, gift cards can still be redeemed but only for their paid, not face, value. Meaning if you purchased a $25 gift card for $20, you’d still be able to redeem your card for the $20 you spent on it after November 20.
"Simply select the business you would like to purchase a gift card from and the amount you’d like to purchase," said Abigail Katznelson, president of the EDC. "There are no limits to how many cards you can buy!"
"While the EDC’s primary purpose is to promote economic development in Fair Lawn," she said, "and we usually do this through consulting and advising the borough on new projects, we have made the decision as a group to use a portion of our operating budget to stimulate the Fair Lawn economy directly."
"Small businesses are essential to the fabric of Fair Lawn and many of our board members are small business owners themselves who know how profoundly the pandemic has affected our purchasing habits," Katznelson said. "We appreciate the opportunity to show Fair Lawn a very concrete way in which we can be helpful to our community."
Businesses can participate by emailing the EDC a form with their intent to participate. The form can be found on our website (fairlawngiftcards.com) or can be requested by emailing email@example.com .
