SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Five Memorial Middle School eighth graders and 31 seventh graders were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society on Wednesday, joining 42 members who were inducted last December. Memorial inducted its first class of members into the NJHS in 2006.

"A big part of what we're doing in the Spotswood School District," Memorial Middle School Principal Brian Kitchin said in his opening remarks. "Focuses not just on the academics, but the individual; the whole child and all the things that go into that. Our goal here is to teach your kids not just what we have in our books, but also how to be a good human being, a well-rounded person. I think you should be very proud of these young men and women up here this evening."

Kitchin went on to say that the 36 new inductees have shown through their hard work, dedication, academic achievement, leadership and community service that they deserved the honor bestowed upon them. He also urged the students to "recognize that with the honor comes responsibility."
