MONTVILLE, NJ - Superintendent Dr. René Rovtar of the Montville Township Public Schools Tweeted her Snow Day decision for Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in the form of a rap video. The post, which went live on @ReneRovtar a little after 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, gives a shout out to Accuweather’s Bill Evans.
“They say there must be snow today, I wonder what my weatherman, Bill Evans, has to say,” Rovtar rapped. “Might be a Snow Day. You hope it, You pray it, You don’t want school today.”
The Superintendent, who has often noted that the decision to close school is one of the most difficult decisions a superintendent has to make since predicting the weather is an imprecise exercise that requires constant study, guess work and consultation, continued her rap describing her process for making The Snow Day decision:
“Looking out the window, Every hour on the hour, Being Superintendent of School; ‘Cause I got one awesome power…It’s a Snow Day! I said it, You heard it, We won’t have school today.”
Rovtar’s video depicts much jubilation at the announcement.
“It’s a snow day. You want it, I called it. Now you can play all day.”
Pajamas, game shows, hot cocoa and playing in the snow are heavily featured just before the Superintendent brings rap to a close with the following lines:
“I hate to end the rap with any kind of sorrow, but enjoy your Snow Day, ‘Cause we’ll be back in school tomorrow.”
