This letter is in support of the candidacy of Mack Rice, Jr., for the Plainfield Board of Education.

I have known Mack two years, and I’ve been greatly impressed with his ability to CUT THROUGH THE NOISE AND THE FOG on the issues facing our school district.

My wife and I moved to Plainfield in March of 2017, Denise from Scotch Plains and I from Allamuchy Township in Warren County.  We are ecstatic to be part of this dynamic, diverse, growing and vibrant community.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

BUT there is a HUGE issue about Plainfield that needs dramatic improvement -- the Plainfield school system.  If the Queen City is going to reach its potential, the school system must become a place where all residents want to send their children.  It must provide an education to its students.  It must provide an education that will allow its graduates to compete effectively for jobs and careers.  Until that is accomplished, Plainfield cannot achieve its full potential.

It is impossible to see where our divided PBOE wants to lead us.  There appears to be no vision, no strategy and no plan for achieving success.  The time it took the board to find a permanent superintendent is indicative of the issues it faces.

We need a person on the board who will SORT THROUGH ALL THE NOISE AND FOG.  A person who will work with all members of the board to find an effective and constructive path forward with defined key milestones.   As a Syracuse University alum, successful business executive, and 20-year Plainfield resident, Mack Rice is that person.  He’s a well-liked, well-regarded, and trusted citizen and neighbor.  He CAN get the job done. And he deserves the support of the entire electorate.
