Scotch Plains – Last Wednesday, November 20, the race for Kenilworth mayor election results were certified by the county clerk. Linda Karolvitch was certified as the mayor of Kenilworth. Karlovitch received 815 votes and Candarella received 803 votes. Pursuant to state law, Salvatore Candarella the republican candidate, was approved by the court to issue an order requiring a recount and recheck of the machines and the absentee ballots.
In Scotch Plains today Monday, November 25, at the warehouse of the Board of Elections where the machines are housed, the Kenilworth anticipated recount could not take place. This is because the Board of Elections has not received the court order requiring the recount. However, it is expected the recount will take place next Tuesday, December 3, says Nicole DiRado from the Union County Board of Elections.
