WESTFIELD, NJ — It was a day for the dogs (and their owners, too) on Quimby Street.
Downtown Westfield Corporation’s “Dog Days of Summer” Sunday included not only a pet parade but also the opportunity for pooches to take a dip in a kiddie pool, play with beach balls and have their portraits taken with their owners, organizers said.
“The dogs had their beach balls in the pool and it was adorable,” said Jackie Carr, who coordinated the event. “We had the pet parade and dog yoga from Brassy Buddha and the ‘parents’ were out there loving it.”
Between 450 and 500 people attended, Carr told TAPinto Westfield.
The event featured an Instagram photo contest during which the public was encouraged to post photos of their canines with the hashtag #dogdaysofwestfield2019 for the opportunity to win a free package from Woof Gang Bakery and Dog Grooming, of Westfield.
The photo with the most likes on Instagram won and the owner of the top dog picked up her prize Monday. Westfield’s Isabel Lee took the top prize with several photos of her dog, Atticus, netting 274 likes on Instagram, organizers said.
