LIVINGSTON, NJ — In celebration of their inclusive efforts within the West Orange community, Mayor Robert Parisi and the West Orange Human Relations Commission (WOHRC) have been selected as the recipients of the Good Neighbor Award presented by the Federated Church of Livingston.
Rev. Dr. Carol Lynn Patterson, who seeks to recognize the diversity within her congregation, said that church leaders know that the real significance of a church is not its building, but its people and their influence upon others inside and outside the congregation.
As the WOHRC develops and implements programs and initiatives that encourage a positive and constructive dialogue within the township about diversity-related issues, the Federated Church of Livingston feels the Township of West Orange has been a great neighbor and a shining example of the church’s mission.
"We are in fact a diverse congregation, something to be proud of—especially these days,” said Patterson. “So, we are aligning ourselves with those who promote the inclusion of all people."
Parisi and members of the WOHRC will be recognized on Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m. at the church, located at 6 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Livingston.
